Resources from Pathfinder Church Northstowe (for all ages)

Something for everyone, with Pathfinder Church Northstowe

#YouAreNotAlone

Interactive Worship at Home with Pathfinder Church Northstowe on 17th May 2020: What happens when you listen?

Here's the playlist... check out the accompanying email for much much more!

A key feature of life with Pathfinder Church Northstowe is that we pray, explore, and share life and faith together with those across the generations. How do we do that from home right now?

Local Story Sharing at 6.30pm on Tuesday and Thursdays

The start of our evening broadcasts is a chance for us to share stories, pictures, and video clips of what we've been up to recently. Please do send us any news (in sending us pictures you give us consent to broadcast them; you may prefer to send pictures without faces) or get in touch if you want to record a part of that.

Here's a playlist of recent evenings, together with the music we've mentioned.

Sundays?

How shall we do this? Let's talk about this... There are so many fantastic online resources out there on Sundays now, we don't want to compete.

We've been sending out some resources to help nuture faith-at-home over the weekend, and then got together on Monday Night to share a bedtime story and talk about what we what we did -- much as we would in our Celebrations in the third part of our normal Gatherings.

We're experimenting with Zoom get togethers on Sundays where we wave at each other and share how we've got on with the resources... or life in general. Help us shape that slot into what you need!

Reading Acts Together

After embedding ourselves so deeply in the Holy Week story, Pathfinder Church Northstowe wanted to find out what happened next. So we're reading our way through Luke's sequel to his gospel -- the "Book of Acts". Join us on a 28 day advetnure between now and Pentecost, as, each weekday, someone reads us the next chapter in the book (in THE VOICE translation). And contact Beth if you fancy reading us one!

Diddy Disciples

Beth is a BIG fan of Diddy Disiples. And so was very excited when they started producing a podcast. If you have 0-3s or primary ages children, this is brilliant. And goes surprising deep for adults listening in too! We'll be including their podcast in our weekly resources.

The Glad Stones (online) Club

Several of our young people have joined the briliant Amy Scott Robinson  n this. And we're hoping to still get her on our Away Day (trying to work out how to do that online instead! But now you'll all know her when we finally get her here in person!

Watch her launch video over on facebook here>>>

Need a sing-a-long to start the day?

If you've children at home... Have you seen this? We're big fans of Fischy Music  - Welcome Everyone; Build Up; So Many Questions, etc.... (their Greenbelt session were particularlly good!!) Do take a look: they have put some great songs oline, for free, to help deal with our emotions in these strange days. https://www.fischytunes.com/

And they've launched a weekly 'assembly' too  (note this first session was recorded before the social distancing rules).

Colouring Resources

One of our young people calls us "Colouring Church".... and we can't let that slip just because we're not all together!  Have you seen these great resources from Illustrated Ministry, again, kindly made available freely during the current Crisis? We'll be tapping into these most Sundays too.

 Prayers to use at home

As well as the prayers from Illustrated Ministries (above), we recommend the prayers (for adults and for children)  from the Church of England.

You'll recognise these from our Evening Prayer broadcasts:

A prayer for the world

God of love and hope,
you made the world and care for all creation,
but the world feels strange right now.
The news is full of stories about Coronavirus.

Some people are worried that they might get ill.
Others are anxious for their family and friends.
Be with them and help them to find peace.
We pray for the doctors and nurses and scientists,
and all who are working to discover the right medicines
to help those who are ill.
Thank you that even in these anxious times,
you are with us.
Help us to put our trust in you and keep us safe.

Amen.

Compline (a prayer of Completion at the end of the day)

As a church, we're praying Compline from home each evening, including this lovely prayer which is a great way to end the day with little ones:

Before the ending of the day,
Creator of the
world, we pray
That you, with steadfast love, would keep
Your watch around us while we sleep.

Tonight we pray especially for (names family or friends who are affected by Coronavirus) and the people of (country or place which is affected by Coronavirus).
Please give skill and wisdom to all who are caring for them.
Amen.

In our first week we used the Northumbria Community liturgies

We are also encouragin people to use the Church of England Night Prayer

We recommend the beautiful children's book - CandleWalk.
